Public Speaking

http://aiesecubc.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/public-speaking.jpg

Public speaking had got to be one of the most nerve racking things on the planet! In that video it described the different emotions that you feel when have to talk in front of an audience. It truly is as if you are a completely different person. First you start thinking about how horrible it will be. Your knees and hands start shaking and your heart starts to race even before you get up there. Now when you actually get to the podium you start losing memory of every reason why you’re standing there. You ask yourself a million times why you volunteered for this. As you start to speak your words jumble in your head and come out something like this, “alkmvadaiuhiowhpoeijaudha;kvnaskjadfjhauh.” Giving a speech is very hard, but to be honest I am not sure why. Every one messes up from time to time so why be so scared to mess up a little bit. To me it is all a mindset that people have that give a speech is really a scary thing when in reality all you have to do is relax.

1.1 Summary (M.I)

Our journey started off with a college student named Sue Smith. She was having symptoms such as headaches, fatigued and a fever. Sue overlooked it thinking it was just a simple cold as did many other students at her college. We linked all of them together to see how thier illnesses could be related. We ran a few test and tested sue for different possiblitys for the illness. Sue, Marco, Jill and Anthony all test positive for Meningititus by test thier spinal fluid. They needed to be treated with antibotics. Because they all had the same thing we ran an ELISA test to see who was infected first. First we recieved samples from each patient. Then specfic proteins stuck to each sample because of certain detergents we used in the samples. Once the degtergents were cleaned out each test tube had a blue color to it. The darker the color showed us who had been infected the longest. After the ELISA test we ran blast test on all the other patients DNA strands. This test showed us that Anthony and Arnie had influenza B, Maggie had strep throat, and Alvin and Wanda had Herpes.

Meningitis

When it comes to having meningitis there can be many different symptoms depending on the patient. Some general symptoms are vomiting, high fever, headach, stiffness of the neck, and change in mental status. If the infection becomes worse, symptoms may become fatal. The human brain is surrounded by many different elements. One of these elements is the meninges. The meninges surround the brain and the spinal cord. Being a warm, dark enviroment the meninges is an ideal ground for meningitis to grow. There are not many ways to treat this infection. One way to prevent it is to recieve vaccinations. If you are concerned about having the bacteria you should see your physician so appropriate actions.

When it concerns Sues' situation, the bacteria has already spread through the college. The only way to stop the spread is to get everyone infection treated and vaccions given out to help prevent the spread from getting worse.

When something dies, its immune system shuts down. When your immune system is exposed to a pathogen or antigen, the body send antibodies that stay in the blood to keep us from getting sick. When something dies, its immune system shuts down. The immune system has many different types of blood cells, one of them are B lymphocytes. These blood cells are formed from in bone marrow. When the immune system is attached it triggers the blood cells to make specific antibodies for the pathogen. After the antibodies are sent the body can focus on getting back into homeostatis.

The Notebook

The notebook is my all time favorite movie and book! The story line of the movie is the sweetest thing ever. The thought of a couple who as been together forever and one of the losses their entire memory of them while the other retells their story everyday, makes me cry every time! I think it is every girls dream to live a love story so perfect it feels like a fairy tale. Nicholas Sparks does an amazing job with keeping the dreams of young women alive. He writes the most adorable stories that touch many hearts each time. Although the notebook has to be his very best.

California

This summer I was able to be apart of a mission group at my church. Over the summer a group of about 12 people went to L.A and stayed at the dream center. The dream center is a place where a church in L.A. takes in homeless, beat up, and run down people and helps them get back on their feet. They home millions of people, from prostitutes, drug addicts and just homeless families. The dream center will feed these people three meals a day. They will help them look for jobs and get them mentally stable. The dream center is really a place where dreams come true. I remember meeting a lady there who was sold as a child into prostitution. When she was finally 21 she found the dream center. There they helped her move past what she had been through. They put her through college and she is now a doctor and attends the church in L.A while helping other girls like her reach their potential. This trip really did change my life and out look on it.

Pediatrics

This picture represents my goal in life. The lady in the picture is a pediatric nurse, which is want I want to do in the future. For many years I have had this dream of becoming a pediatric nurse. I have always loved kids! I could play with a baby all day long and it be the best thing I did all week. I am also very into the human body. I love to learn about how the body works and functions. Put two and two together and you come up with a career that I know will be a very fulfilling job. http://www.uvpediatrics.com/images/h_img_05.jpg

Volleball.

My first picture here is of my volleyball team. This is currently the varsity team. These girls are like family to me. Our head coach (on right) is Tonya Walton (aka Fonda) she is like a mom to us. She would do anything that we needed her to do. I have spent countless hours practicing hard with them. Volleyball has become my favorite sport over the years. Being on this team has taught me many valuable lesions. It has taught me to work hard for what I want and never give up. Volleyball has let me realize that with dedication anything is possible.
